It is with great sadness that we share the news that our much-loved Club Secretary, Mike Vosper, has sadly passed away.
Mike’s connection with Longfield Tigers FC spanned decades — a lifetime of dedication, commitment, and passion that helped shape the club into what it is today. His journey began when his son first joined the Tigers as a young player, and what started as a parent helping out soon became a lifelong commitment to the club and the community it serves.
For more than 20 years, Mike was the heartbeat of Longfield Tigers. As Club Secretary, he worked tirelessly behind the scenes — organising fixtures, managing registrations, supporting coaches, and ensuring the smooth running of every aspect of the club. His attention to detail, calm presence, and unwavering support for players, parents, and staff made him an irreplaceable part of the Tigers family.
By Mike’s side throughout his time at the club has been his devoted wife, Pauline Vosper, who has given just as much to Longfield Tigers. As the club’s Welfare Officer, Pauline has supported players, parents, and coaches with care and compassion, ensuring the wellbeing of everyone involved. Together, Mike and Pauline embodied the true spirit of grassroots football — giving their time, energy, and love to help countless young players enjoy the game in a safe and supportive environment.
Even after stepping down from his official role last month, Mike remained closely involved in an advisory capacity, continuing to offer his experience and wisdom to support the new Club Secretary, Laura Marchant. His dedication never wavered, and his legacy will continue to influence how the club is run for years to come.
Mike’s passing is an enormous loss, not only to Longfield Tigers FC but to the wider community that knew and respected him. His kindness, humour, and selfless contribution touched the lives of so many — from young players taking to the pitch for the first time to long-standing members who have shared decades of football memories alongside him.
